Welcome

Our Estates

Gascoyne has three estates: in Dorset, in Hertfordshire and in central London. The Hertfordshire and Dorset estates are a mix of property, forestry and farming, and the London estate is a mixed residential and commercial portfolio largely centred around Charing Cross Road.

Cranborne

Cranborne is a dynamic and enterprising estate featuring outstanding schools, excellent village facilities and a thriving community, resulting in an extremely desirable place to live, work and visit.

We understand the value of a strong and active community, working alongside our local businesses and associations to support community initiatives and events.

The Cranborne community is a vibrant one, offering places to eat and drink, community retailers and lots of neighbourhood gatherings throughout the course of the year.

Community & Tenants

Cranborne is a busy rural community with outstanding schools, excellent village facilities and a thriving business hub, making it a highly desirable place to live and work. We contribute wholeheartedly to the life of the local area and in addition to producing food and providing homes for local families, we have recently adapted a range of disused agricultural buildings to provide contemporary facilities for growing and new businesses.

Farming

Cranborne takes the business of farming and the environment seriously. Our home farm produces arable crops of wheat, barley, oats and oilseeds. Our farm tenants farm in a similar way but also produce beef and lamb.

We have planted, restored and laid many miles of hedges in recent years and have an annual programme of creating new and repairing old ponds and water features.

Gascoyne Places

We strongly believe that local people should have a say in how their towns and villages evolve. In collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire, we have sponsored a series of community-led design workshops in Hatfield, which considered how to accommodate the new homes that are needed to sustain our communities. Working with our neighbours we have established development principles and building codes, which are applied to our development plans through Gascoyne Places.

Visitor Attraction

The House, Park and Gardens at Hatfield are open during the summer season and visitors can also enjoy the Stable Yard with its variety of shops and a cafeteria. We have long associations with schools and educational institutions and we are a willing resource for a wide variety of national and international education bodies.

Farming

Our farmland areas are part of the Defra Countryside Stewardship scheme which provides a great boost to all farmland birds, especially yellow hammer, skylark, grey partridge, corn bunting, lapwing and tree sparrow. We have an active hedge replanting and upkeep scheme and maintain field headlands and margins for the benefit of wildlife.
